Community Happenings: Maryland Tax Filing Deadline, 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Primary Election, Stand-Up & Deliver, Juneteenth Celebrations, Multicultural Festival & More
Maryland State Filing and Payment Deadline for Individual Taxes is July 15
June 2022 Tax Bulletin - Comptroller of Maryland June 2022 Tax Bulletin
Marylanders have just a few more weeks to file and pay their state individual income taxes for tax year 2021.
Comptroller Franchot extended this year’s individual income tax filing and payment due date to Friday, July 15, 2022. He also extended the first and second quarter individual estimated tax payments for tax year 2022 to July 15, 2022. These extensions do not apply to pass-through entities or corporate estimated tax filers. Federal income taxes were due April 18.
The agency’s staff already has processed more than 2.8 million tax returns. Last year, Marylanders filed 3.2 million tax returns.
This is the third consecutive year Comptroller Franchot has extended filing and payment deadlines for state individual income taxes to July 15, each time to assist taxpayers facing financial difficulties due to the pandemic.
Free state tax assistance is available through the agency's 12 taxpayer service offices, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In-person and virtual appointments must be scheduled in advance at https://marylandtaxes.gov/locations.php.
2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Primary Election
Friday, May 20, 2022 - County Executive Alsobrooks: Community Connections
Dear Prince Georgians,
We wanted to share some important information regarding the upcoming 2022 Maryland Gubernatorial Primary Election. The primary election will be held on Tuesday, July 19, with early voting from Thursday, July 7 through Thursday, July 14.
As the election approaches, we are encouraging all Prince Georgians to register to vote and/or check the status of your registration. The deadline to register to vote or change your party affiliation is Tuesday, June 28. Remember that only registered Democrat and Republican voters are eligible to vote in the primary election unless there is a nonpartisan ballot for that district. You can register by mail or online on the Board of Elections website.
While residents have the option to vote in person, we are strongly encouraging residents to vote by mail. All eligible voters in Prince George’s County were mailed a vote by mail ballot application. To vote by mail, please complete the application and mail it back in the postage pre-paid envelope. Applications can also be submitted to the Board of Elections via fax or email. In addition, residents can also text VBM to 77788 to register to vote or complete a vote by mail application. The deadline to apply for a vote by mail ballot is Tuesday, July 12, and the deadline to apply for an electronic vote by mail ballot is Friday, July 15. Ballots will be mailed to voters beginning in mid-June.
It is also important to note that political district boundaries are changing this year. County, State, and Congressional districts are adjusted every ten years based on population changes. Our Board of Elections is working to finalize the new district plans and will share that information once it is made available.
For more information on the primary election, how to register to vote, and the vote by mail process, contact the Board of Elections at 301-341-7300 or visit their website here.
Yours in service,
Prince George’s County Executive
