DEADLINE EXTENDED: Opportunity of a Lifetime: Join Mayor Cashenna A. Cross for a Sports Game Experience!
We are excited to announce the deadline has been extended for a unique opportunity for the youth in our community, courtesy of Mayor Cashenna A. Cross. Mayor Cross is taking six lucky youths, three from middle school and three from high school (grades 6-12), to attend a sports game this season. The options include watching the Washington Commanders, Capitols, Wizards, or Mystics in action!
So, what does it take to be a part of this exciting experience? It's simple – a 500-word essay, creative rap poem, spoken word or artistic colleague visual expression on the topic: "What We Can Do as a Community to STOP THE VIOLENCE." We believe that the voices and ideas of our young residents are crucial in building a safer and stronger Glenarden, and we want to hear your perspective.
Here are the details:
Essay Topic: "What We Can Do as a Community to STOP THE VIOLENCE."
Eligibility: Youth in grades 6-12
Submission Deadline: February 1, 2024

Mayor Cross is eager to read your thoughts and ideas on how we can collectively make our community safer and more peaceful. The top six essays will be randomly selected, and those students will have the opportunity of a lifetime to attend one of the exciting sports games mentioned earlier.
This initiative not only encourages our youth to engage in constructive dialogue but also rewards them for their thoughtful contributions to our community. We believe that your ideas have the power to inspire change, and we can't wait to see what you come up with.
