Maryland Municipal League "If I Were Mayor I Would..." Digital Essay Contest

Each year, MML and the Maryland Mayors’ Association invite 4th-grade students to participate in this statewide essay contest. The essay contest theme for this year is "Preserving the Past to Power the Future". The contest's purpose is to help students think about ways to make their community a better place to live and work as well as to educate over 22,000 students and their teachers about Maryland municipal government.

No Excuse For Teen Dating Abuse Teen Summit

The Department of Family Services, in collaboration with various community partners, is hosting its 10th Annual No Excuse for Dating Abuse Teen Summit on Friday, February 3, from 6:30 to 9:30 PM in recognition of February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Each year, the County comes together in an effort to raise awareness about teen dating violence and educate our youth. The event is free to youth ages 11-21 years and will include a teen panel, fashion show, spoken word, and more.

Prince George's County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP): Virtual Public Forum

The Prince George’s County Office of Homeland Security/Emergency Management Division (OHS/EMD) is in the process of updating the County Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). They will be hosting a second Virtual Public Forum Thursday, February 2nd at 5:30pm for County Residents. During this forum, our office, in collaboration with the Department of

Environment, will provide an overview of the updated 2023 Draft Hazard Mitigation Plan and allow members of the public to ask questions and give feedback on the Draft Plan. The Draft Plan will be available for review before the meeting on the County’s Hazard Mitigation Plan webpage, along with the feedback survey, for those that would like to submit their comments and questions in advance or cannot attend the meeting.
